My introduction to horse racing started as a toddler picking horses for my grandad in the morning papers, which quickly evolved into a family ritual of watching the racing every Saturday with my grandad and uncle. I was captivated with the sport from day one.
When I was fortunate enough to achieve my dream of becoming a professional footballer — playing for Cardiff City, Coventry, Wigan and Tranmere Rovers and representing Wales at senior level internationally, it finally gave me the means to buy my own racehorses. From these early days of ownership, I was completely hooked on the breeding and bloodstock side of the game. I fell in love with the entire journey, from the initial covering to the birth of the foal, navigating the sales, watching them develop through training and finally seeing them perform on the track.
Over the last 30 years this great sport has introduced me to some truly incredible people, from top tier trainers to passionate breeders and fellow owners. Now I am incredibly excited to take everything I have learned and start a real passion project with my good friend Matty Williams. We built this business to share the exact magic we love about racing with you, offering the ultimate full lifecycle thrill of ownership. The racing bug bit me at an early age, so much so, I have been able to build a life, family and career around it.
Roles, including, two years experience working for a trainer, ten years at the Racing Post, and much of the last sixteen spent betting on racing, professionally. Everything about the sport captivates me, the colour, the glory, and the downs make the ups, all the more enjoyable.
Having experienced lone successes, I can tell you, it's so much better celebrating a win, when others are in the huddle. Syndicates are the way forward in racing, it's more affordable, fun, with opportunities to forge new friendships along the way.
Betting has never been the driving force for me, it's a by-product of my life's passion, and when Simon and I first started talking about Coronation Thoroughbreds, the fire was lit, I wanted to give it a whirl, but only if we could do it properly. I am confident we have a formula that will allow us to do exactly that, with our members, at the forefront of everything we do. You simply can't do this without the support of good people.
